Finishing To Kill a Mockingbird

Now that you have finished reading the book, please answer the following questions. What really happened when Jem and Scout were attacked walking home from the play?  

One of the major themes in the novel is not to judge a person until you walk in their shoes. Which characters turned out to be "good" once we understood their circumstances? and Why?
